Story

Father's Day, as we understand it today, began in the early decades of the twentieth century to complement Mother's Day to celebrate fatherhood and fathers in general. The feast is celebrated on various dates throughout the world, often accompanied by delivery of a gift to your father.

The first time it was documented that seems to be celebrated July 5, 1908 in Fairmont, West Virginia, at the local Methodist church. It was Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, the first person to encourage the formalization of the party, without being aware of celebrations of Fairmont, inspired by listening to the sermon in church during the Mother's Day 1909, she organized the festival for the first time on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington. The festival was organized in the month of June because that month fell on the birthday of Mrs. Dodd's father, a veteran of the Civil War.

Father's Day is celebrated in different times in each country, you can read it on wikipedia.
