Abdel Halim Ali Shabana, commonly known as Abdel Halim Hafez (June 21, 1929 – March 30, 1977), is among the most popular and celebrated singers in Egypt and the Arab world. Halim was also an actor, conductor, music teacher and movie producer. He is widely considered as one of the greatest Egyptian music artists along with Umm Kulthum, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, and Farid Al Attrach. He is widely nicknamed as el-Andaleeb el-Asmar (The Tan Nightingale).
